Mitt Romney proves that video is king

As most of us have seen by now, presidential hopeful Mitt Romney was caught on video saying some things that are not sitting well with potential voters. Politics aside, the fact that this short video could possibly sway more votes back to President Obama proves the power of online video. In other words, video is king.

It may be a stretch for me to try and prove the parallels of that video with a video shot to promote a small business. However, the fact that even a poorly shot video with relevant content can have a big impact is undeniable.

Online video is a powerful tool that any business owner can start using immediately. Here are some tips to help you get started

Give your viewers relevant content

Let’s say you own a pizza shop that has great garlic bread and your customers are raving about it. Do you see an opportunity to provide relevant content? You should.

You do not have to be a great director to put out good and relevant video content

Your pizza shop makes great garlic bread. Make sure to show your visitors how you prepare and bake your bread. You can shoot this with a basic digital camera.

Get to the point

A video that drags on and on and on is pointless. Get to the point. Tell your viewers what you are preparing your famous garlic bread, how you make it and invite them to come visit your location. Keep your videos to 2 minutes max.

Use a tripod

Although you do not have to spend thousands of dollars on video equipment, purchase a tripod. You can pick one up starting at about $30 for a basic one. Viewers do not want to get motion sickness watching your videos.

Publish and share your videos

Youtube & Facebook are powerful and FREE tools. Use them. Upload your video to your Youtube channel and share the video with your friends and people who like your shop on Facebook. Make sure to add a description of your video that lends itself to the way people might search for great garlic bread recipes.

Now it is time to take action. Make some videos and put them out there. If you would like a professionally produced video or animated business video, give us a call or complete this this short form
